5 x Windhager BioWin Excel 60kW in a cascade system
300kW Biomass boiler system supplying heat and hot water to the 69 bedroom hotel
Potential of £35,000 per year for 20 years under the non-domestic RHI scheme
The existing oil fired system was very inefficient and in need of considerable work. Upon survey it was decided a 300kW Biomass system would be installed in two containerised units. One unit houses 3 x 60kw Windhager boilers, buffer vessels, ancillaries and pellet store for heating of the hotel.
The second container houses 2 x 60kw Windhager boilers, buffer vessels, ancillaries and pellet store for the hot water requirement of the hotel. Each container is clad in a wood log effect finish.
All works were carried out at our workshops and shipped to the site as a ready to go bio-cabin. The cabins were craned into position at site, onto pre-prepared land at the rear of the hotel. Insulated underground pipework was installed approximately 1 metre below ground level, running from the new containers to the hotel’s plant room. Inside the plant room the pipework was connected into the existing heating system through plate heat exchangers.
Two new 430 ACV hot water cylinders were also installed in the plant room. The new system gives and approximate return of £700k in RHI payments over 20 years, and an approximate fuel saving of £500k over the same period.
