4x60KW Windhager Boilers in cascade system
Supplying heat and hot water to care home
Potential of up to £17,000 RHI per annum
Greenhills Care Home part of the Thistle group based in Glasgow awarded Greenguru NE the contract to supply and install a biomass system in place of their existing inefficient gas system. Once planning was awarded a work schedule was set up and commencement of the install started. A 45ft biocabin was manufactured at our workshops were it was shipped to site then craned into position.
The biocabin consisted of a steel shipping container clad in weatherproof wooden planks to give an aesthetic log cabin look. Inside the container 4 x60 kw Windhager boilers were installed along with a 3000 litre buffer vessel and all ancillaries and pipework. This would take up half the container were a partition was made for an automated pellet store to be manufactured in the other half. The finished product would give a container with half plant room and half pellet store.
Once the biocabin was in place connections would be made from the new system to the care homes existing boiler room, this would be done through underground insulated pipe, which had been pre installed before the biocabin arrived to site.
Our engineers installed pipework and a plate heat exchanger within the existing boiler room to interface with the biomass system. The result was a more energy efficient, cheaper source of fuel with better comfort levels to run the care home with the added bonus of the government backed twenty year Renewable Heat Incentive payments.
